DCU PREPARES TO HOST AWAKE 2026 AS SYRO-MALABAR YOUTH CONVENTION RETURNS

Dublin is once again preparing to welcome vibrant young Syro Malabar Catholics from across the country as AWAKE Ireland returns for its 2026 youth convention. Tailored specifically for the Syro Malabar youth of Ireland, this year’s gathering builds on the overwhelming success of AWAKE 2025, which saw a packed venue at St. Patrick’s Hall, DCU with 350 enthusiastic participants eager to deepen their spiritual journeys. This year AWAKE 2026 will take place on the 24th to 26th October at DCU Auditorium welcoming Syro Malabar youth to another exciting AWAKE.
The energetic three-day conference promises an inspiring blend of dynamic workshops, uplifting music, moving personal testimonies, and meaningful fellowship. Designed to foster community and spiritual growth, the event provides young believers with a welcoming environment to share their experiences, engage in thoughtful discussion, and strengthen their relationship with Jesus alongside like-minded peers.
This year’s distinguished lineup of featured speakers brings a wealth of international and local leadership to the main stage. Speakers include Mark Nimo, Director of Faith Formation in Chicago; Fr. Conor McGrath, Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Down and Conor; Fr. Binoj Mulavarickal, Director of Youth Apostolate for the Syro Malabar Catholic faithful in Europe; and Bishop Stephen Chirappanath, Apostolic Visitator for the Syro Malabar Church in Europe. AWAKE is also made special with the presence of a visit from Bishop Donal Roche, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Dublin. Together, these spiritual leaders aim to equip the next generation with the passion and insight needed to live out their Catholic faith.
At its core, AWAKE remains an initiative driven entirely by young people, for young people. Youth members are actively taking the lead in every facet of the convention, from organizing the overall itinerary to leading praise, music, and dance performances. As anticipation builds, the Syro Malabar church hopes, AWAKE 2026 will continue its expanding legacy, fostering lasting connections and inspiring faith across Ireland for years to come.
